2010 EYFA FOOTBALL

The EYFA Introduction

The Elyria Youth Football Association is a youth tackle football, flag football, cheerleading volunteer lead youth organization based in Elyria, Ohio that began playing games in 2005.  The boys and girls who participate in our various football programs range in age from 5 to 12 years old in multiple age divisions.  The EYFA operates the following programs every year: Spring NFL Flag, Fall Tackle, Fall NFL Flag, and Fall Cheerleading.  In order to provide a competitive schedule that reinforces our Mission Statement, these programs compete against teams across several counties in the newly formed Ohio State Youth Football League based in Cleveland, Ohio. The EYFA is proud to be affiliated with the nationally recognized American Youth Football organization and fully recognized 501c3 organization as well.

The EYFA Mission Statement

To be the best youth football organization possible by keeping the interests of the children first and maintaining strong values which include sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and commitment.

The EYFA Purpose

Our purpose is to teach the game of football to children of this community whose parents are interested in being a part of a competitive environment that will promote safety and fundamentals over winning at the expense of a child or opponent.  Our players are well coached in the fundamentals of football and in the physical aspect of the sport.  Players are coached to become teammates, to be responsible for their equipment, know their position on the field, and to win and lose with dignity.  We promote our players and families to take in pride in their team and our organization and to remember they represent the EYFA, the community and our sponsors.

Through hard work and commitment from the Board, coaches, players, and families our organization will be respected and one where its teams will be strong contenders in the leagues we participate in every season.

The EYFA Philosophy

Our philosophy is to constantly work on improving our organization to provide a positive and constructive environment to learn the game of football and to have each player an opportunity to have fun while being part of one of our teams!

Also, our philosophy is to achieve team success by focusing on teaching the basics of football and the fundamentals to every player so they can be successful and develop the confidence to move on to the next level.  Every player will be treated fairly and know that they are an important part of the team and their contributions are valued.  We believe that children can learn valuable life lessons from the game of football.  For example, players are expected to maintain their grades in school throughout the football season and follow team rules.  Failure to do so will result in lost playing time or removal from the team.

Finally, as a traveling and competitive youth football organization, the EYFA is committed to providing its players and families the best coaches, leadership, and program structure possible using experienced or trained volunteers in each role that has responsibility.  Player development and striving to win are the focus for each team.  However, winning at the expense of any players, opponents, or the organization will not be tolerated.  Finally, no child will be turned away from our organization due to an inability to pay the registration fee.

The EYFA Short Term Goals
